If you are like most people, then chances are you are into online dating as well. And you know that not all of them are satisfactory. In fact, some of them are just plain scams. When you’re caught up in one, being ripped off will be just one of your worries. Most of such cases often end up in disappointment and of course heartbreak too. They usually start with talking to someone that you meet on online dating sites.
The way it works is that a user has constant correspondence with this guy or girl that s/he met while surfing online dating sites. This lulls their sense of security causing them to trust the other party. The popular trend is that the scammer will tell the victim of a particular hardship that he or she is in at the moment. Some life threatening circumstance or whatever. Then they proceed to tell he victim that in order to solve this, they must have financial assistance. Now it is within the human nature to help so it’s not surprising that many feel compelled to do so. After all, you already trust your online partner don’t you?
Mostly this involves cash. The scammer will request that you undergo money transfer through some service. After the transaction is complete, you could expect the scammer to suddenly stop all communication. Maybe after a brief thank you not but that’s it. You’ll never her back from them again once they get what they want. And you’re none the wiser.
These scams are prevalent and still will be for some time. It demeans the benefits that you could get when joining an online dating service. These scams are disgusting and are insults to a person’s intelligence. So be careful. Online dating is a great experience but in general, it would be for your own safety to not send anyone money over the net. Especially if you haven’t met them yet. You never know, you may just be getting scammed. Better stay safe if you ask me.
